Two applications built with Interactive Objects' ArcStyler by Deutsche Bank Bauspar and Austrian National Railroads (ÖBB) were among the three finalists in this year's OMG Object Application Awards Program in the Model Driven Architecture (MDA) category. The b-online application by Deutsche Bank Bauspar was awarded the first prize at the OMG Information Day in London on September 10th.
This impressive success not only bears witness to the maturity of MDA. It also shows that Interactive Objects, the company behind the ArcStyler, has become one of the world's top players in the global league of development tool vendors.

Project: b-online (Bauspar-online)
Joint Submission of Deutsche Bank Bauspar AG and Interactive Objects Software - Germany
The new b-online system which runs on more than 30,000 client machines in all of the approx. 1,250 Deutsche Bank branch offices integrates the existing COBOL mainframe system into a variety of new Web-based systems. The core system of the Deutsche Bank Bauspar AG runs on an IBM mainframe and is based on CICS, COBOL and DB2. The system was implemented in the eighties and has undergone continuous development ever since. The focus in the development project was on the implementation of new business functionality around a proven legacy system. According to Deutsche Bank Bauspar AG, "immediate savings in the development process due to the MDA-compliant approach and usage of the ArcStyler amounted to approx. 40% compared to the estimated figures for development without using this approach." Project: LDZ (Leistungdaten Zug): Billing System for Actual Usage of ÖBB Infrastructure
Joint Submission of Österreichische Bundesbahn Interactive Objects Software - Austria, Germany
The highly complex LDZ "Leistungsdaten Zugfahrt" application was designed to implement a billing logic that reflects the actual usage of the railway infrastructure and provides customers with invoices showing clearly itemized travel records. The LDZ application processes more than 400,000 records per day which makes it one of the largest EJB systems ever built in Europe. It is based on a distributed four-tier J2EE infrastructure of components and Web applications also serving as a main Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) component for diverse distributed legacy systems. LDZ is the first application of its class in Europe and the first system to fulfill the billing requirements for rail infrastructure usage as required by the European Union.
