ArcStyler for IBM RSM Edition

ArcStyler for RSM tightly integrates with IBM Rational Software Modeler / Architect (RSM/RSA), enabling customers to leverage the flexibility and productivity of the proven IBM environment to build applications for multiple platforms – including IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic, JBoss and Microsoft .Net.

ArcStyler is the leading product for Model Driven Architecture (MDA), the open standard developed by OMG (Object Management Group). MDA shifts away the emphasis from code-centric development towards model-centric development. UML models are used to define in detail the structure of application systems. Advanced code generation techniques are then applied to automatically map UML models to a specific target platform, such as .Net or J2EE. This approach not only increases development productivity and overall quality of the target system, it also dramatically reduces the effort for building an application for more than one target platform. MDA also reduces the cost of migrating from one technical platform to another, e.g. from EJB 2 to EJB 3, thus ensuring long-term security of investments.

ArcStyler for RSM supports UML 2.0, rich UML profiles, tight IDE integration (JDT), built-in editing of MDA marks, and UI support for transformation configuration in Eclipse. ArcStyler for RSM can automatically map rich UML models to fully fledged three-tier applications, supporting J2EE (WLS 8, WAS 5, JBoss 4) and Microsoft .Net.

This means that customers can utilize the full power of the IBM RSM/RSA environment, including UML 2.0 modeling, Eclipse integration, Reusable Asset Browser, Reports generation, Lifecycle management and Requirements management, without depending on a single deployment platform.
